Artumi Short URL Service

Below you can enter a long url and get a small url which can be used in its place. This is useful if you have a url that is too long to speak over the phone or to fit on a single line of an email.

Long URL:

Internally each URL is assigned a number. That number is then converted into a string, and using only 5 characters we have enough space for nearly 8 million URLs, all of which are easily read out over the phone. If we need to store more than 9 million URLs then 6 characters allow 191 million URLs and 7 is enough for 4.5 billion urls.
